Oxidized button

Post11 Feb 2011, 03:26

I have this Bulova N6 that looks almost NOS except for the setting button. It has lost the gold plating and looks oxidized. What can be done to this button? If the button is replacable, I do have a donor case, but I have no idea how to get this out of the case...

You are going to have to use something mildyl abrasvie to clean it up, you could try something like autoglym metal polish or brasso or a specialst abrasive paste for metal but with a very soft cloth, maybe try to mask around the area you are working on so the case isn't damaged

I have removed these by gently tapping it out from the inside using a punch and pin hammer.
I would soak in penetrating oil first for a day or so.

Good luck :-D
