Gold P2 ?

Post18 Feb 2011, 11:06

Did anyone here snag this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT

It's got a SS back, just like the one I got (i.e. without the 'Solid Gold Bezel' marking). Of course it could just be a GF P2 with the wrong caseback. Interestingly though, it's serial number of 14598 is rather close to mine, which is 14828.

If anyone here did get this one, please let me know. If it is gold, it could suggest that a batch of 2975 P2s came out with a caseback simply marked as 'Stainless Steel'.

Rgds,
Andrew.

: Gold P2 ?

Post18 Feb 2011, 15:43

I thought it was a well established fact that a number of the s.s. P2s were distributed with plain backs that just say stainless steel, or nothing at all. For a while I thought they were bogus or aftermarket, so I set them aside. Then at some point opinion turned to people thinking or believing that those were proper backs for stainless P2s and started asking for those backs -ok.. This is different then the solid gold P2 case that was being sold a a few weeks ago, and the seller said it was the wrong back, because it said 14k , stainless steel back. Which IS correct for a 2975,
