LCD segments not working

Post02 Mar 2011, 00:43

I recently bought a fantastic Dumb Watch brand wristwatch. It claimed to be water-resistant, but the other day it fogged up a bit and now some of the LCD's segments don't work. I've tried opening it and keeping it in rice for a few days, but it hasn't helped. Does anyone know the problem and how to fix it? I'll upload images soon.

"Fantastic Dumb Watch Brand" ? I'm sorry, I'm unfamiliar with that brand, is it a 'cheapo-chinese' brand? If so, you may be 'ass-out' as us Yanks say.

Nope, not cheapo-chinese; it's a new brand, though (I think.) http://www.revolveclothing.com/DisplayP ... c=DUMB&d=b

This is a new brand/model to me. I like the display area, but not the rest of it. *Just IMHO*. It does look like a cheaper Chinese model to my eyes. Maybe it's not. But if it is - then any claims to "water proof" or "water resistant" are, how shall we say, exaggerated? :-)

If you bought it recently I would encourage you to pursue a return. They'll give you a hard time of course, but be persistent.

Sorry but that does look like cheap Chinese stuff. Even if its not there is not much you can do if it has been damaged by water. The water conducts electricity and shorts out the IC.

Looks like a plastic case, is this true? If yes: not worth thinking about it...
