Interchangeable Module Options

Post19 Feb 2011, 05:15

Hi,
I have a Waltham LED watch. Which brands used these same modules? I am working at res erecting this one but would like to have the option of possibly locating something working that will fit in the case if this one turns out to be a flop. Module dimensions are 25.5mm x 4mm. Regards,

I would also be interested to know as the module in the one that I have is defunct.

I have been looking for a while and I haven't been able to find a replacement for it.

I've a couple of Walthams and I don't think anything else fits... :-(

LEDNutz,

I can't tell from your picture if the battery corrosion has got into the display if not remove the two little screws which will release the carrier and check to see if the battery corrosion hs cut any of the electrical tracks from the battery pads clean everything up and put some power to it you never know.

One of mine had some corrosion inside like yours but it came back to life after a bit of TLC.

Led-Time,

I did as you suggested and see that some of the traces around the negative connection pad have been compromised at their termination points. I will need to rebuild these traces and refill the contact pad. With any luck that should get it working. Any suggestion as to what could or should be used to do this?

For the broken tracks there are products available to fix this but a fine bit of wire is just as good, clean-up both sides of the break and solder on the wire to bridge the gap. For the battery contacts clean-up what's there and put solder on it then use a small bit of thin brass sheet or an old button contact to make a new pad and solder it on, it may not be pretty but it works.

Good luck... :-)

Sorry for the delay in posting pictures of the bare board. Been busy with work and spring cleaning.

Update: I purchased a bottle of conductive paint and started rebuilding the contact pads and traces on the board (VERY tedious work). I have had some success with it lighting up but not consistently. still looking for that problematic trace that is not cooperating.
