Need information on a Buler LCD Chronograph

Post20 Dec 2011, 13:47

Dear fellow members.

I just bought this watch - http://www.digitalwatches.de/DEUTSCH_INDEX.HTM - its a Buler LCD Chronograph. Methinks from sort of 1977. But I may be mistaken. My only LCDs before this were Citizens or Casios from end of 70s/80s which I - being a child then - of course took with me in the swimming pool which usually ended in a desaster. Anyway perhaps someone can help me so I know a bit more about my new watch, meaning date of manufacture, history etc. The Bulers I found on the net and in this forum were others, either the famous Bertone watch or ana-digi or the jump-hour watches from Buler dating back to 1970. Many thanks!

You are probably within a year. Buler is an old, well known company, but not generally big enough to make (or have made) custom movements. Or even cases by that time. More of a collector's curiosity - but a very nice piece regardless.
The connection to Buler with those Bertone designed LEDs - that has been quite effectively squashed by those who have noted that Tissot lays claim to those in their "History of Tissot" books, both text and pictures. The Buler connection was merely a rumor that spread until it was considered gospel. :!: I believed that connection myself until shown some definitive proof otherwise.

Oh, I'm not saying it doesn't have Swiss content - it may be 100% swiss content. You asked about it and my thought is that Buler didn't have the resources to make their own digitals; however, it appears to be just a little past the very first years of the LCDs advent, so possibly they did, since costs were lower by then. If the seller indicated Swiss case or internals, I would believe him - he has an excellent reputation, I have bought from him dozens of times myself.
