Dodgy Heuer lcd

Post08 Sep 2013, 17:34

Was just wondering - Am I the only one that thinks this looks an awful lot like a Trafalgar LCD watch with with a redone dial in it?

I can't find anything that looks even vaguely like this in any of the 1970's Heuer catalogues online

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130982852229?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Looks like it's going to go for good money anyway

Nothing on the clasp or backplate. Way to simplistic.

this is the closest, but no cigar :-D

It looks a bit odd i give you that, but i do think this is a real heuer watch, except for the band.
I have not seen this one , but something similar like kasper showed us above.
Or am i just to gullible  :grin1:

It says stainless steel back which I assume means base metal bezel, would Heuer make a watch with a base metal bezel?

The Jackie Ickx watches Heuer were producing before Tag bought them out had base metal/chromed cases but what bothers me about this lcd is that it just looks too cheap to be true. There's just nothing about it that says Heuer other than an easilly swapped brass dial. I guess the best way to know if it's the real deal is to see if it shows up on Peter Wenzigs site in the next few weeks ;-)

Love that ad by the way Kaspar - interesting to see that the Heuer with the Gruen Teletime guts cost more than an Autavia or a Carrera. Even as a digital watch guy I know which I'd rather have...

That Teletime in the form of a Heuer is really shocking hence I would not be surprised if the Heuer ESA LCD in the Italian auction is also legit.
Even Breitling sourced LED and LCD modules to fill the digital gap in their portfolio and in most cases only printed their logo on an outsourced watch.
Pure marketing, no room for sentimentality, only cash counts if you can fool the customer eager to pay 10x more for your company logo.
