Dugena Monza Ana-Digi

Post25 Jan 2014, 09:58

I recently scored this Dugena Monza Ana-Digi:

It was sold as non-working, but the only real problem was that the polarising filter had completely failed. The battery hatch was also missing, but I got that sorted with a hatch from an old Compuchron LED. After a thorough clean of the movement, and a new polarising filter, it now runs sweet:

Build quality is excellent, although setting is a real nightmare. With no crown, the hands must be advanced one minute at a time via the buttons ! For example, if you need to advance 11 hours, it requires 11x60=660 button pushes :x
The movement is marked EST4330, although it seems identical to the Cal-2045 used in Tissot TS-X models.

I'm starting to really appreciate these 1980s ana-digis.

Congrats with this ana digi named after the best F1 circuit (at least, that's my experience ingame ;-) ) Great watch with those black element on its side.

What kind of polarizing filter have you used? Have you used filter sheet from donor broken lcd panel of some kind?
I have been looking for donor polarizing filter sheets and yours seems to have a very good colour and transparency, curious about the thickness. If you purchased this somewhere I would love to know the shop. Thanks

To advance the hands rapidly on this module you press and hold (for about 5 seconds) the button that advances the minute hand (when in analog setting mode). The watch then enterers rapid setting mode and the minute hand flys around at about 30 times normal rate. However, those tiny push buttons are horrible to hold in (your finger derforms quite quickly) for any length of time and I always use a small coin between finger and button to press it in. Module is identical to Tissot/Buler ones.

Yeah, Monza's a good track, almost as good as Albert Park ;-) .
The polarising filter was lying around in a parts box. I think it came from an old dead Citizen.

Thanks for the tip OldTom. I'll try that next time it needs setting. I did try holding the button in, but probably not for 5 seconds.
