Seiko LC Quartz 0624 / 0439 glass

Does anyone know if the crystals (glass) on 0624-5009 and 0439-5009 are interchangable?

(They look similar but these things are rarely so straight forward).

Hi,

The 0439-5009 is fixed to the bezel, and cannot be removed without force, where the 0624-5009's is removable because it is a separate part.

Actually theres some misunderstanding here

The 0624 is mounted on a brass frame that also houses the buttons. It is heavily glued onto that frame but! it can and has been known to separate

The 0432 is a stand alone glass that is pressed into the case - I would not suggest removing this glass unless you have a lot of time and patience - experience with this model

I have a few used 0624 crystals, new is not possible anymore

I know I guy who can polish them but because of the size the edges can be slightly over bevelled . also I am able to get new crystals cut, kasper can also do this but you need a specific thickness etc

Actually, you can remove the 0432 crystal from it's bezel if you apply direct heat from a hairdryer, and then push from the inside with preferably a "wooden" bamboo stick or some thing close to that. You would want to have the bezel in a movement stand while doing it. I have had good success with this, and am usually able to salvage the retaining gasket. Once removed as described, you have two choices: polish the existing crystal with sandpaper and other polishing materials, or two, have someone like Kasper cut a new piece of glass.

0432 the glass is not on a bezel. it push fits into the case with the aid of a rubber gasket like most other models

Ok, I see, my mind is correct, but my description of the objects were wrong. I am sorry, and I will correct this in case I need to make further posts of this in the future.

In answer to Kaspers question mine is badly scratched - probably beyond refinishing.

Thanks again for the answers - I've got Seiko lcd's with glass that matches both of these descriptions so it all makes perfect sense.

Thanks for the kind offer Seiko Kid (and very much appreciated) but to be honest this 0624 is so rough that I think I'm going to just retire it to the spares box.
