I like Optels....

Post06 May 2014, 12:35

Was checking out my LCD box last night and was taken by how damn pretty the big Optel watches are. Here's a picture for no good reason other than I want to share their loveliness :-)

Optels are lovely watches. Big, chunky and stylish in their own way, especially the DSM ones. Nice trio you've got! 8-)

I agree.

I like the big readable digits. I like the futuristic style of the Optels, but I even like the chunky Teletimes, Micromas, Westclox's etc. which you can often find for cheap and generally go unloved and unappreciated (sniff).

Check out this exceptionally rare one from 1972:

Please excuse the crap photos and the dirty marks......I haven't had a chance to clean it up yet.
The dial is genuine lapis lazuli, set into a solid SS block.
Super heavy, super extravangant and super-70s !!

So Funky!!!! :mega:
Some watches are made to last only as long as they are fashionable
Some watches, simply are not made to last
Seiko watches are designed to withstand the ravages of both time and fashion
Someday perhaps, all watches will be made this way

Nice - I've seen one of those before branded Delvina - I guess that must have the round BWC/Kuatron module in it?

Well picked digibloke.
It is a Delvina. The only other one I've seen is on Peter Wenzig's site...........which has been down for quite a while :-(

Lol, I know, he has a very nice collection. Nice gentleman to chat with too by the way.

His Arctos Digital Quartz is the one I'd love to see working. I think it would be the only DSM watch that actually has slanted digits in the display, and module looks really well made. As far as I know he has the only one.

You guys saw my photos, so I don't need to tell you I like Optels too :-D
