My New Dumai II vintage LCD

Post06 May 2015, 21:34

I don't post much, but the last time I posted, I had found this watch at a thrift store:

Last week I was at a thrift shop and picked up this amazing good condition vintage Dumai II, for $10. There is virtually no info on the internet about it, but it is shockingly simplistic, yet elegant. I'm guessing early to mid 1970's. I also think that the casing may be gold plated. Thought I would show it off and see if there is anyone who knows about this great looking piece.

Nice watch with an Optel module. I've got one that looks exactly the same, can't remember the name
I'll get back to you :-D

is the screen a yellow/gold colour? These later gen Optel modules typically had the normal black with a grayish screen

Thanks for posting guys. So, it would seem that this watch was for hire, which makes sense, as I believe Dumai was exclusive to the Hudson's Bay Company stores in Canada. Their house brand, admit were; not the best quality, but not the worst either. So has anyone managed to do any research and learn anything about the manufacturer? I'm guessing it's a decent watch, but nothing to write home about. I find it to be very aesthetically pleasing, in a Space 1999 kinda way.
