Been away playing with my analogue watches rather a lot recently.... Here's an interesting watch though...
A lot of folks will have seen the Sanyo Ultra-Thin LCD watch from about 1986. Its only about 2mm thick. This one here is a bit different though, first of all its branded Q&Q, which is a Citizen sub-brand, and not Sanyo.
But it is clearly the same watch... except it isn't quite - the buttons on the two watches are on different sides, which means the battery is too, which means that the case, the pcb and the front sticker (also functions as the LC panel window and the push buttons
) are all actually different parts in the two different watch variants.
Anyway, I pulled it apart (literally
) because I wanted to see what was inside. There are no identifying marks inside - the IC is sealed on the inside face of the PCB in a black epoxy blob. Everything is glued together and rather fragile. The LC panel seems to be made of glass. The black pads on the inside of the front panel overlay are the contacts for the push switches. Thats it... nice and simple -
