Looks interesting - you select the mode by rotating the bezel? I don't think I've seen an old digital with something like that.... Did you pull it apart to see how the switching works between the case / module?

Nice Seiko, in a perfect condition!
I think the sail race timer version of this watch is even more rare.. However, this find is one in a thousand!
Enjoy wearing this beauty, or not ( :-? ) :-P

thanks guys

I've had plenty of these models . The bezel turns and pushes 4 internal button contacts in different combinations via 4 pegs.

Movement is fiddly and made of cheap ass plastic and most cases the LCD bleeds

Doc has one in back to the future and a lot of space shuttle guys wore them in the 80's

Very big in Oz with the A827 yacht timer version

Would make a nice couple with the Timex Datalink in the showcase, as far as NASA Space Shuttle is concerned
There is a working A827 sail race timer version for sale on there right now, but not mint or nos as this one. I prefer mint for my own collection myself these days ..
Once again, excellent catch, enjoy it

The most sincere congratulations! You have a very nice collection of those rare Seiko gems.
So, to complete the collection of "mode settings by rotating bezel" vintage digitals, You may need only 2 very rare watches:
1. Casio RW 100 Navi Graph (I have one but without the proper strap, so the below one is not mine)

2. Pulsar V600

Congratulations again and regards,

I suspect there are many out there not acknowledged but strictly vintage / retro speaking there are only the seikos and this Yema ( which is also a Seiko ) and the Pulsar ( which again is Seiko ) and interestingly the Yema is a direct copy of my 6030 !!!

Yes, You're right, I forgot that Seiko had acquired Pulsar as early as 1978 :-(
Thus, if the Seiko A829-6030 Silverwave series, with multi-function controlled by rotating bezel appeared c. 1983, Pulsar V600 was certainly produced under Seiko's Pulsar brand.
The year 1983 was an interesting year for Seiko company, being the moment when Seiko began a design partnership with Italian designer Giugiaro.
This cooperation produced some very interesting time pieces, including the famous Seiko A828 4019 with rotating bezel for modes switching :).
And by the way, some expert people even say that Casio Navi Graph's design (a watch that appeared c. 86/87 and was produced a short period of time - thus being quite rare) was inspired by the Seiko A828-4019.
I agree that the Casio Navi Graph may not look very "retro" with it's plastic case, but being launched only 3-4 years after A828 and A829, it may be very well considered more or less a "vintage digital", or - at least - almost as vintage as the Seiko Silverwave series.
Every watch should have its own story...consequently, a watch collector has to be a good storyteller :)
