Bargain on ebay?

Post27 May 2006, 16:35

Synchronar on ebay expired in 5 hours. It is not listed as a synchronar but with the title

Vintage 1974 World's First Solar-Powered Timepiece

under the listings for "solar watch"

It seemed to go for a low price, $225.

It was not working and it did not look like it had a metal bar across the top. It came with a booklet of instructions>

Did is slip by everyone's attention because it did not have "Synchronar" in the title on ebay?

Opinions???

At the end of the Auction week everyone gets the word.I myself notice a sudden influx of views whenever a listing of mine is mentioned here at the forum,20 additional watchers anyway. He probably did miss out on a few potential buyers, however that arena"Solar Watches" has it,s own advantages.
The watch itself was from 78-79 and retailed for like $169.00 and under, non original band and in my opinion went for the right price.after all it,s a gamble on wether it can be fixed.
I can trace the original owner of just about any Synchronar with the 5 digit Sr#,s
The seller had nice things to say about the technology and history end and if he was the original owner I was not going to remind him the watch is only 27-28 years old and he never purchased it for $500.00 at Nieman Marcus.I think he mentioned this but never really said thats where he/she got it and how much was paid.Ofcourse it was the Mk I that sold there as well as 2.000 other fine jewlers and magazines.I am pretty sure the first Synchronars available in in a consumer electronic high tech gadget magazine went for $1,700, well before they hit Jewelry stores.
